I am proud to announce that I am a certified mindfulness coach!!! I have vowed to go forward and teach you guys all that I have learned. It has been said that in order to truly reinforce what you learn, it is best to teach it to someone else. So, here we are.
There are so many facets to mindfulness and mindfulness practices. Mindfulness is a state of heightened awareness and deliberate focus on the present moment. There is a common misconception that mindfulness is a religious practice. It is far more therapeutic than it is religious.
I have heard many people equate it to Buddhism. Nearly all cultures have a process of meditation that observed, but is called by a different name. Meditation has become mainstream and secular, which eliminates the religious or spiritual aspect of it. As you grow deeper into developing your practice you will begin to understand that you can add or take out any portion that may disagree with your personal beliefs.
Meditation is the formal practice of mindfulness. Meditation is structured and follows a specific process. Meditation allows for you to take your mindfulness to a deeper level. This practice doesn't always include a mantra or a hum, but some people are comfortable with that and that's where they engage. If this isn't a level of comfortability with you then feel free to omit it. The key here is that YOU are developing your own mindfulness practice, no one else's. You don't have to engage in anything that you are not comfortable with.
Overall, I am super excited to walk through each facet of mindfulness and I am also looking forward to hearing about the ways in which you incorporate mindfulness into your daily routines and how it has become beneficial to you.
